Karen's Doodles Book Mark

The challenge over at Karen's Doodles is to make a book mark in celebration of back to school time. Since I am an avid reader, I can never have too many book marks. I chose the image Movie Boy for my book mark since I think reading a book is so much better than going to the movies. The film strip is from the Mickey and Friends Cricut cartridge. I cut it at 3 inches.

Copics:R46, C1, C3, C5, G21, G85, G99, B93, B95, B97, YR02, YR20, E00, E21, E33, E35, E37, E53, W3

We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Tool

I am thrilled to see this tool. Can't wait to buy one and get more stitching done on my cards and scrapbook pages. Pretty cool! Since I prefer hand stitching, this will really save a few steps of making sure my holes are lined up. You can change the heads to make different patterns for stitching! If you want to see a video of how to use this tool click HERE. You can see all the threads and different stitches available at We R Memorie Keepers. The Profound Brunette is having a RAK on her blog of two items she received at CHA. Go check her out. Both items she is giving away are wonderful. I think I would love the have that book of scrapbook sketches.

The challenge this week at Sentimental Sundays is Words That Inspire. I think this quote by Mother Teresa is perfect for a thank you card. The flowers on the card are from Fred She Said. They make a great additon to projects because they can be used so many different ways.

First Day of School

Today my boys head back to school for another year of fun! My youngest is starting high school this year. It seem like just yesterday I was sending him off to his first day of kindergarten. Because I am feeling a little nostalgic today, here is a scrapbook page of the boys attending back to school night for Ben's Kindergarten year and Brad's 2nd grade year. This picture always makes me laugh because Brad was so unwilling to get his picture taken.

Flash forward 9 years and now the tables are turned. Brad eagerly smiles and Ben is not excited to get his picture taken. Also notice the clothes...not sure what they are trying to say about themselves for the first day of school

Yeah, no more school bus! Since they are back to attending the same school this year we are letting Brad drive to school most mornings.

Tilda in Yellow

Yellow is my favorite color and the first challenge at Let's Ink It Up is to use yellow. I don't like bright sun shiney yellow but I prefer light yellow. I find it is a very relaxing, yet cheerful color. And doesn't Tilda look pretty in her yellow dress? I made two cards with the same papers, stamp and embellishments but I think I like the shaped card the best. All the pattern papers are from Basic Grey and are simpy gorgeous!
Card Details:
Stamp: from the Magnolia Stamps Fairytale collection

Halloween Kitty Kat

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love everything about it; the colors, the activities, the cool weather, and of course, Halloween. The adorable digi image is Kitty Kat from Karen's Doodles. We once had a cat that looked just like the one sitting in the pumpkin. In fact, he loved to eat pumpkins! If we put our pumpkins outside for halloween after we had carved them, he would be trying to get inside them to eat them. He was the perfect Halloween cat since the boys name him Salem. For this card I used my brand new Happy Hauntings Cricut cartridge. There are so many great cuts on this cart and I think the frame I used could be used all year long if you just leave off the spiders. The ghosts are cut from vellum. I drew the faces on with my zig pen and then wiped off the ink with my finger. It doesn't smear on the vellum but leaves a fainter pen mark that is a better look for the ghosts faces.
Card Details:
Digi Image: Kitty Kat from Karen's Doodles
Frame: Happy Hauntings Cricut cart cut at 5 inches
Ghosts: Happy Haunting Cricut cart cut at 2.5 inches
Copics: E21, E00, Yr00, Y21, E53, YR02, Roo, R11, V12, V17, G02, C1, C3, C5, C7

Yellow Roses

I spent the day making cards today. Each one uses a different technique or product. For this card I decided to not use any of my stamps. I just love how soft and feminine it turned out. The paper pricking pattern I used is from Fred, She Said. They have lots of great floral digi images that go along with this particular swirl that I used on another card I made today. I am entering this into the challenge over at Craft Your Days Away. The challenge was to make any kind of project using things with wings.
Card Details:
Paper Pricking pattern from Fred, She Said
Butterflies: Indie Art Cricut cartridge cut at .75 and 1 inches

Card Details:
Sentiment: Stamp from Stampin Up
Ink: CTMH Chocolate

Birthdays!!

August is full of birthdays for our family. Not only is my birthday today but my mom's is tomorrow, my niece's birthday is the 17th, my father-in-law's on the 15th plus numerous friends have birthdays this month too! I closed my daycare for the day today so I could spend the day doing my favorite things, which yes, does include crafting!! My husband, bless his heart, decided he would take a half day today as well so we could spend the day together. I didn't have the heart to tell him I already had plans and I fear he might be a tad bored if he helped me make cards and scrapbook pages so we are off to the city! My birthday celebration this year is going to be rather unique. I am starting the day just like I did when I was 16...so with my birth certificate, social security card and proof of residence, I am getting my drivers license renewed. Then I am meeting my husband and we are going to spend the next part of my birthday doing something I am sure nobody has ever done before on their birthday, we are purchasing our funeral plots. Yes that's right, our funeral plots! My husband thinks that is the most practical (because we will always need it) and romantic (because we will be together forever) gift! After that we are heading to Shawnee Mission to my favorite scrapbook store and to Olathe to have dinner with my parents.

I do have a project to share with you today. This is a birthday card I made for a special little girl who just turned one! I am thrilled to share my birthday month with her.

The adorable digi stamp is from The Stamping Boutique.

Aud Sentiments Challenge #8 Relax

Time for another challenge at Aud Sentiments. This week our sponsor is Sassy Studio Designs. They have some amazing digital images that are so much fun!! Our theme for this challenge is to use the word "Relax" somewhere on your project. Sassy Studio Designs gave the design team two images to work with for this challenge and both are super!

For my project I used Cocoa Carol from the Sassy Holiday Collection. I made a cocoa slider and thought this would make a great little gift for my sorority secret sister. I printed to image on pattern paper and then cut our the chair. I then cut out the image of carol and glued on top of the chair. I will list all card details later. I am experiencing computer troubles and having to use my son's computer to get this posted.

We would love it if you joined us in this challenge. Simply make any kind of project using the word "RELAX" as part of your sentiment. After you are done creating, link up a picture of your project on the Aud Sentiments Challenge blog and you may win a prize donated by Sassy Studio Designs

Gold Angel

For this card I combined two challenges. I used the sketch from Mojo Monday and the color scheme from iCopic. The image is from KLM digi stamps. The color scheme were were to follow was ivory, gold and chocolate. I thought the Angel with Dove image was the perfect choice for those colors. To get the gold color for the angel's halo and dress accents I used the Copic pen E43 Dull Ivory. I then colored over the top of that with my clear Spica pen to give it the gold metallic look. the dove is colored with the same clear Spica pen but there was a little of the E43 left on the tip so it gives the dove a completely different look. I used Martha Stewart's ultra fine glitter for the wings.
Card Details;
