The Ugly Hamper

I took some time away from my paper crafting to finish this DIY project, the ugly hamper.  My husband is a hard working guy and he gets very dirty.  I don't want his dirty work clothes mixed with my clothes so he has been using this ugly hamper for years.  I have searched and searched but have been unable to find another hamper that is large enough and sturdy enough to hold his work clothes.  I finally just accepted the fact that the ugly hamper was here to stay.

Here is what it looked like

I hate to be critical but it was hideous! There was a sticker tag on the inside of the lid but I couldn't tell what year it was made.  I am guessing is is 50-60 years old. I am sure housewives back in the 50's and 60's thought this was just the nicest hamper.

I decided to paint it to match our bathroom.  The tile is tan, brown, blue and gray so I chose to paint the hamper tan and blue.

Here is the finished hamper.  It's still ugly but at least it matches the decor better.

Scrapper's Delights June New Release

I have a couple of cards to share with you today.
This first card is made using Honey School Girl from Scrapper's Delights.  I couldn't resist going "old school" with this card (pun intended) so I dug out my stickers.  This will be a great card for the first day of school or even a teacher appreciation card.

Winter Mixed Media Card

I had fun creating this mixed media card.  The challenge this week at 52 CCT is to used mixed media to create your Christmas card. I embossed the white cardstock with the snow cuttlebug embossing folder.  I then used a mixture of white and aged marine embossing enamel around the edges.  I used snow tex on the tree die cut and the snowflake button.  The image is Winter Fairy Halla from Mo's Digital Pencil.  The wings looked like cracked glass to me so after coloring with copics, I used crackled accents.

Elf

The challenge at 52 CCT this week is to create a card with a Christmas elf.  I decided to make a simple, yet cute card.  The elf shoes are from the Paper Doll Dress Up Cricut cartridge.  I used the bottom portion of the clothes for the cave boy as the elf clothes and trim on the shoes.  I stitched the bells on for an added embellishment.  I cannot remember where I got the sentiment.

Wishful Asha

2015 is flying by too fast.  It's the middle of June already!  Sorry I haven't been doing much card making lately.  My allergies are always the worst in May and June.  Meds take care of the sneezing but the itchy and swollen eyes make it difficult to craft.
Our new challenge at Aud Sentiments is "Summer with an appropriate sentiment"  I used this fabulous sentiment from one of our DT members, Ginny.  It's free so hop on over to the challenge blog and save it to use for your own projects.
We are sponsored by Make it Crafty.  They were generous to allow each DT member to choose an image to use for the challenge.  I chose Wishful Asha.  As kids we always loved picking up the dandelions, making a wish and blowing on them.  She pairs up nicely with Ginny's sentiment too.

After cutting out the dragonfly, I used purple and pink chalk for some added color.  I then painted over the wings with extreme glitter paint.

Bowling Ball Gazing Balls

I saw this project and decided to give it a try.  I gathered 4 bowling balls.   A couple of them my husband found in a dumpster. What a great guy helping me in my crafting! They were ugly and had several scratches but that just adds to the charm (the bowling balls, not my hubby).   I washed the bowling balls and then wiped them down with rubbing alcohol.

I painted them with metallic spray paint and Voila!  pretty gazing balls for the flowers beds that can withstand hail.  The original project called for chrome  paint but hubby picked up metallic silver and I like how they look.  We are in process of redoing our patio so I didn't bother putting anything underneath them to protect the patio before painting.

Here is how they look sitting in my flower beds and rock garden.  Please ignore the weeds.  Between all the rain and my allergies, I can't keep up with how fast the weeds grow.

Summer Fun

Today starts a new challenge at Scrapbooker PhD.  The theme is Summer Fun.  I love riding my bike in the summer time so couldn't resist using this sweet Tilda stamp for my project.  I wish my bike had a basket on the front.  I would fill it with flowers too.  Instead, my bike is a green mountain bike which is perfect for riding around in the country and along the gravel roads in our area.
