Aud Sentiments Challenge #12

Time for another fun challenge at Aud Sentiments. This week we are being sponsored by the fabulous Cutting Cafe and our theme is halloween!

For this challenge you may use any Halloween sentiment that you want. For the bonus challenge you can make a treat holder. I made a card using a round sentiment from The Cutting Cafe. I made a pleated circle to go behind the sentiment. These pleated circles are so easy to make and are a great way to add dimension to your project. The spider on my card is an old spider ring from several years ago. For my treat holder I used the long window box from the cutting cafe. I enlarged it 200 percent and it was just the perfect size to hold two Magic Wands. (See recipe below for my magic wands) I used a transperency sheet over the window in the box so my magic wands would stay fresh.
Directions for making my Magic Wands

For my Magic Wands I made caramels using the recipe below. I let the caramel cool slightly in the pan and then dipped pretzel rods in the caramel. I placed them on a greased pan to cool. (I have in the past poured my caramel onto my greased pan and allowed to cool slightly before covering my pretzels. Just wait long enough so that you can cut a strip of caramel and then wrap it around the pretzel. If you use this method, you don't need to worry about the hot caramel making the pretzel soft) Once they were cool, I melted a large hershey bar and dipped the pretzels in the melted chocolate. I then used sprinkles for some color. These caramel covered pretzels are one of my favorite treats. They satisfy my cravings for something sweet and salty all at the same time.

Recipe for Caramels

1 Cup Butter
2 Cup Sugar
1 Cup light corn syrup
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups chopped nuts (optional)
grease a 11x17 pan with butter. Melt 1 cup butter in saucepan. Add sugar, syrup and sweetened condensed milk. Stir constantly and cook until it reaches 240 degrees on a candy themometer. Mixture will be a pretty golden brown. Remove from heat and add vanilla and nuts. Pour onto pan and allow to cool at room temperature for 2-3 hours. cut wax paper into squares. Cut caramels inot 1 inch squares and wrap in wax paper.

We Tied the Knot!

We tied the knot...19 years ago that is. And I would do it all over again! The image I used for this is JJ Wrapped Up from Bugaboo Stamps. I thought she was just perfect for a card for my husband. We aren't doing gifts this year because we are saving for a cruise to Alaska and Canada for our 20th anniversary next year. The ribbon bow is cut from the Sweethearts Cricut cartridge. I pop dotted the bow to give it some added dimension. I used my do it yourself pop dots which means I ran a strip of fun foam through my xyron and then cut it into pieces for the dimension.
Card details:

Aud Sentiments Challenge #11 Cheer Up!

Time for another challenge at Aud Sentiments. I am really excited for this challenge since our 5 new design team members are debuting with this challenge. We are lucky to be sponsored this time by Robin's Fetish. The winner of this challenge will receive 5 digital images from Robin's Fetish. How cool is that!
Our theme for this challenge is "Cheer Up!" You must use that sentiment somewhere on your project. For my card I used the image "Friends Forever" from Robin's Fetish. Who wouldn't be cheered up just looking at this group of friends having fun together?
For the inside of the card, I decided to use a rubber stamp that has been in my stash for quite awhile. I believe it is from Hambo Stamps. I thought the animals looked like they could be doing the Hokey Pokey so this stamp is just perfect.

I hope you join us for this challenge. You can make a card, scrapbook layout, altered item, tag or whatever you want but just make sure you use the sentiment "Cheer Up!" somewhere on your project. Then head on over to the Aud Sentiments Challenge blog and link up your project for a chance to win the prize from Robin's Fetish. Don't forget to check out the fabulous projects from the other design team members.

EEK!

Here is another Digi Doodle Shop design. I just love fall and Halloween. So many fun activities. For this card I used dazzling diamonds Glimmer Mist on the spider web. I hope it shows up in the picture. It gave the web that shiny and dewey look you see when you discover a spider web first thing in the morning. I used the cuttlebug spots and dots embossing folder to add dimension to the orange paper.

Sleeping Baby

When I saw this sweet baby, I just knew I had to make a vintage looking baby card. This little sweetie is from the Digi Doodle shop. They are currently having a challenge at Digi Doodle Shop's Best called "Charm Me" so I am entering this card into that challenge. All papers are from K & Company. I love the look of the crochet doily on the card.

Pumpkin Carriage

I made this card for the challenge at Digi Doodle Shop's Best. The image is Pumpkin Carriage and it can be found at Digi Doodle. I am not sure it shows up well in the picture but I used my Spica pen to add some glitter to the gold parts of the carriage. I used stickles on Cinderella's shoe. Their challenge this week is to "Write Me A Message" What better message for Cinderella's carriage than the magical words used by her fairy godmother?

Vintage Tag

The challenge over at Let's Ink It Up is to create a tag or bookmark with a vintage feel. I just love this Magnolia stamp with Tilda wearing her pretty hat. The buttons are from a jar that I bought at an estate sale several years ago. There were in an old ACME canning jar and I have had fun digging some out for various projects. I watched at Suzanne Dean copic tutorial on Youtube on how to color in the scandinavian style or vintage style. I need some more practice but I am fairly pleased with how it turned out.

I just adore this little bubble gum chewing sweetie from Sassy Cheryl. I think it would be great if there was another image of her with the bubble popped! I am entering this card into two challenges; Tuesday Morning Sketches and Tuesday Throwdown. The challenge at Tuesday Throwdown was to use ribbon with a twist so I braided it!
